Exploring new depths

With the great success of Insomnia69, I strongly believe Insomnia is and always will be the UK's best gaming convention.

Player1Events always find the most efficient ways to optimise the event for the best possible experience for each and every guest that attends the event be it the Indie games, arcade games or whether you decide to BYOC.

Here at PaulCodesUK we highly recommend that you should attend Insomnia Gaming Festival if you're interested in attending events oriented around the gaming industry. There's plenty of up and coming indie developers to talk to and learn valuable industry information such as best practices & mistakes to look out for when starting out.

If games aren't entirely your scene there is still plenty to do! Ranging from stage content to shopping in the commercial zone.

Stage events are a great place to go if you have young ones with you as it's a great time spender but an entertaining one!

The recovery of Events

Heading into Insomnia68 I was unsure what to expect having not been able to attend an event in so long & i68 being the first Insomnia back since the pandemic hit.

I was however pleasantly surprised, the event had also been taken over & was being run by the one and only Wizzo (Craig) it felt like I had gone back in time to before Game had taken over the event. It was restored to its former glory where it was once again, about the gaming & not profits.

Over the course of the weekend I had the opportunity to speak to various different members of the industry, ranging from Game developers & designers, Event organisers and many of the other exhibitors roaming the expo hall.

Speaking to all of these influential individuals was quite the experience & very eye-opening to all of the different possibilities. I took much of the information & insight they had passed onto me and began to integrate suggestions into my daily workflow.

Based on what I have seen at Insomnia68 I am eagerly anticipating Insomnia69 to far exceed my expectations & with hopes to see more companies such as LogitechG, Razer, etc. return to the event.

New Horizons

New Horizons,

We are always looking for new ways to expand our horizons such as so at PaulCodesUK we've recently expanded into a new venture known as "InfernalSuite" the purpose behind InfernalSuite is to provide a wide variety of utilities, games & resources within the Minecraft plugin and server software space.

At the moment we are in the process of developing InfernalWorldManager  this is the successor of Advanced Slime World Manager with the intentions to take it much further and beyond with the ability to handle more and bigger worlds.

Other projects involve acquiring other existing resources such as the most recent one "UltimateCore" the partners at InfernalSuite have put forward funding to purchase all rights retaining to UltimateCore and thus we will be taking on the project and expanding it further with new capabilities, enhancements to the API, performance etc.

Here at PaulCodesUK we do not stop in the face of failure, we push forward and learn from our mistakes, having been developing as early as 2013 we certainly hold quite a large array of knowledge regarding the Java programming language and the Bukkit/Spigot/Paper APIs.

Welcome to PaulCodesUK

Welcome to the PaulCodesUK Blog

This blog revolves around my studies as a Programming student and all of my programming ventures.

I have intentions to attend many events across the UK to better my knowledge about different types of development, and gain some insight about the industry.

This ranges from such development levels as Game development, software development and but not limited to events software.

In a few months I will be attending Insomnia Gaming Festival, where I intend to talk to and possibly interview a few Indie game developers and independent programmers to find out about (Real-world) situations they've been in.

My interest is in the way they have characters in games move, as I will be studying about Robotics as my first subject at University. So I would like to gather information on best ways to gain the most realistic movements.

Bringing Strawberry to Life

Introducing Strawberry

Strawberry is the new Official PaulCodesUK Dedicated server and Mascot, the server is used for many of tasks such as running GizzyGazza's Roleplay recording servers. This will also be used to earn some extra money on the side.

Strawberry is a great and powerful server, with 12 cores across 2 CPU's, 32GB RAM and 6 HDD's. There are however downsides to using such a powerful server in a home environment. I host the server in my Bedroom which means that at night the server can get quite loud.

Somewhat solution to this problem is by connecting multiple fan connectors together in order to trick the system into booting with only 2 fans instead of the required 4. However this is unrecommended unless you are able to cool the room to low temperatures, as if you are unable to do so you could cause damage to the server with overheating.

Listed in the picture below are the specs of the server:

It is a HP Proliant DL180 G6 Server and I paid around £160 in total for the machine.

It holds a total of 12 Hard drives, however the correct drive holders are required to put them in the bays. The server has become very helpful for testing such as testing a Project called "Project-E" Which is an Events Software I develop for Atlas Media Group.
